The illusion that we are separate and because you’re a “member” of a certain religion, you’re going to Heaven and “everyone else” is going to “hell” is a fallacy. This notion is caused by ignorance and a lack of understanding of the true wisdom mind that pervades everything. There are many paths up the same mountain and yoga instructs that it is about union. Nothing else. Union with Divinity. Union with your body, breath, others. Even the new Pope says that hell is a literary FABLE. Yoga teaches that hell exists in the minds of people who think they are separate from God, separate from others. That is hell on earth. When we wake up, we understand that this was the wool over our eyes.

Pope Francis said in his very controversial speech: “Through humility, soul searching, and prayerful contemplation we have gained a new understanding of certain dogmas. The church no longer believes in a literal hell where people suffer. This doctrine is incompatible with the infinite love of God. God is not a judge but a friend and a lover of humanity. God seeks not to condemn but only to embrace. Like the fable of Adam and Eve, we see hell as a literary device. Hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul, which like all souls ultimately will be united in love with God.”

This has been the message of yogis and gurus from the East for thousands of years. Heaven on earth exists when we can achieve union with our bodies, breath, mind and Brahman, the all-pervasive, infinite Divine.
